DeSantis breaks down Florida State Capitol leadership. Speaker Perez explodes the governor

Florida Republicans are caught up in a civil war. Gov. Ron DeSantis exploited the Capitol leaders and denounced the rebellion against voters who sent them to the legislative room, with Florida house speaker Daniel Perez obscuring DeSantis and Mauban holding back the “swamp.”

With a majority of both chambers of Congress and governor control, Republicans control the political landscape of the sunshine nation.

However, in a recent post on X, the governor argued that “FL House’s leadership is at war with voters who provided the vast majority in the first place.”

“They don’t want to see Florida continue their conservative path,” DeSantis told Fox News Digital in an interview Wednesday. “They’re doing something to empower the left.”

“Republican voters are wondering what’s going on in the Florida House of Representatives,” he said.

“I think what they’re doing is the formula for Florida to be in a swing state. The reason we went from purple to red during my tenure is because we drew a sharp contrast to the left and beat the left after the problem,” declared Desantis.

“The house is run on a basis of fear and retribution,” he said.

Perez, a Republican, pushed back a lengthy statement provided to Fox News Digital on Friday morning.

“Unfortunately, what we saw in Florida is the governor who has turned into something he promised to fight — he has become a swamp. His latest attack is nothing more than a distraction from the total financial mismanagement taking place under his watch. [Florida Agency for Health Care Administration]and an increasing list of issues across the institution and board of directors — all controlled by the governor,” Perez declared in a statement.

“The Florida home remains the most conservative institution in Congress, but it is the most conservative institution in Congress. It is billions lower than the governor, approved a significant tax cut than the governor, and promotes bold conservative policies that push forward with bold conservative policies such as abolishing gun laws and passing e-verify. The governor seems uninterested in conservative legislatures.” Continued.

“We are proud to advance conservative reforms, but we cannot hide the mismanagement of taxpayers’ dollars. The governor’s comments on retaliation are very hypocritical. His entire style of governance is based on fear and intimidation. The house,” Perez added.

Desantis – a former US lawmaker who was a founding member of the House Freedom Caucus – won the dominant governor’s reelection victory in 2022.

He placed a presidential bid in 2023, but eventually dropped out in 2024 after Trump, a GOP juggernaut, won a major victory at the Iowa GOP Presidential Caucus, and approved Donald Trump.

Before he takes office, the governor is turning to calling for constitutional amendments to lower or abolish property taxes placed in front of voters.

“Asset taxes are local, not states, so there is a need to amend the constitution (it must be approved by 60% of voters).

“We should make the most bold revision to the vote where we have the opportunity to get 60%,” he said, adding, “I agree that taxing land/property is a more oppressive and ineffective form of taxation.”

The governor explained to Fox News Digital, “Is the philosophical foundation a private property?”

He pointed out that if someone owns the property entirely but still has to pay property taxes, “You’re basically paying rent… to the government.”

Desantis pointed out that property tax is a “basic unrealized profit tax,” and is worthy of the increase in property valuation by local governments.

“And even though you’ve never sold your home for so many, you have to pay taxes on a higher base. There was no market transaction that says your home is so valuable,” he said.

Would you like to abolish property tax? DeSantis supports this idea and explains how it can be done in Florida

The governor is committed to looking at property tax proposals presented to voters before they take office.

DeSantis showed that if the state legislature feels it doesn’t consider putting the issue in front of voters, it could be a pathway to get it on the ballot. But it would require a huge collection of signatures, and the governor suggested that it would be easier if Congress acted, but he doesn’t know that lawmakers would do so.

“Why don’t we just… do that?” he said after paying attention to GOP’s control in the state legislature.

“I think they just took the position they really don’t care about what their voters are thinking in their Florida home,” he declared.

“When it comes to property taxes, the governor introduced the topic a few months ago, but he couldn’t even provide a plan, language, or basic explanation. Florida property taxes are managed at the local level, but the home is ready to put it on the floor if he wants to advance the constitutional proposal.

“The truth about Ron DeSantis in the later period is that he talks about a big game, but he is waiting for others to do his job. [Georgia Gov. Brian] Kemp first opened up his condition after Covid – Ron trusted. [Texas Gov. Greg] Abbott led immigrants – Ron gained credibility. The same goes for here too. If he really wants to act, he should do his job, not just an empty press conference. ”

DeSantis, who is currently serving his second term, is not eligible to run again in 2026, and Trump has already approved Byron Donald as R-FLA lawmakers in the governor’s contest.

Asked by Fox News Digital if he thought he would gain support in the race, the governor indicated that he would be “involved,” but noted that he was still quite early in the election season.

DeSantis suggested that the Capitol has shown Florida’s “success is very fragile” in recent months.
