Florida Governor Ron DeSantis hopes President Donald Trump will use Sunshine State Surgeon General Dr. Joseph Radapop as director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
Desantis argues that public health officials can do more to the CDC states than they are now.
“The CDC overhaul is FL. Joe will be able to do more than FL’s surgeon general as director of FL,” the governor said in a post on X.

Desantis agreed with anyone Ladapo suggested, “it’s the right pick, the transformational pick, the creation of history, the saving pick of the Republic as a director of the CDC.”
“Dr. Joe Radapop is all of them and has the courage and determination to do the right thing when it’s not easy,” the governor declared in a tweet. “Rapad as CDC Director means Maha [Make America Healthy Again] It’s not a sky slogan. ”
President Donald Trump announced last year that he was tapping Dr. Dave Weldon’s former U.S. Congressman, but earlier this month the White House pulled his nomination, so the president now needs to tap someone else.
“Twelve hours before the scheduled confirmation hearing in the Senate, I received a call from an assistant at the White House to let me know that my appointment as Director of the CDC had been withdrawn, and I didn’t have enough votes to confirm me.”
DeSantis says Florida returned $878 million in taxpayer funds to the federal government after meeting with Musk.
“Then I spoke to HHS Secretary Bobby Kennedy, who was very upset. He said he was the same thing and he was looking forward to working with me at the CDC. He said I was the perfect person for the job.”
Last year, DeSantis floated Radapop for the Department of Health and Human Services secretary before Trump announced Robert F. Kennedy Jr. about the role.

“If this guy, Dr. Joseph Radapop, wants to be the new Trump administration’s HHS secretary, retweet,” DeSantis tweeted in November, sharing a photo of Radapop in the post.
