Florida Governor Ron DeSantis’s Department has returned to an allegation linking the governor and his wife, Casey DeSantis, to the $10 million awarded to the Hope Florida Foundation after the state settled with a government-sponsored healthcare provider.
“Governor DeSantis and Florida’s first lady Casey DeSantis are subject to politically motivated laws in Florida, and now the same laws are in place for President Trump and his candidates,” Communications Director Brian Griffin told Fox News Digital.

Centene, a large health insurance provider specializing in government-sponsored programs such as Medicaid and Medicare, has returned $67 million in a settlement with the state health care management agency over allegations that Centene is overcharging Medicaid payments. After the September 2024 settlement, $10 million in funding was sent to the Florida Foundation Hope.
The $10 million awarded to the Hope Florida Foundation was split into two separate $5 million grants to the 501(c)(4) organization. One went to secure Florida Future, Inc to save our society from drugs.

$8.5 million of these funds were then diversified to keep Florida clean. This was a political action committee previously targeting Florida Amendment 3, a constitutional amendment that would make marijuana recreational. Casey DeSantis is frankly opposed to the legalization of marijuana.
A senior official in Desantis’ office told Fox News Digital that the Hope Florida Foundation is a separate entity from the Hope Florida initiative led by Casey Desantis.

A senior official in the Desantis office also told Fox News Digital that no official investigation was conducted by the Leon County State Attorney’s Office despite reports that record managers of the state attorney’s office called the issue an “open and ongoing investigation.”

Florida Republican Rep. Alex Andrade, chair of the Healthcare Budget Subcommittee, originally unearthed funds. Andrade told Fox that he would not be aware of any actual ongoing investigations, but added, “I added that there is a long conversation. [Department of Justice]”About documents and communications related to the transfer of funds. He said that he would “Casey or how [Ron] Desantis is involved. ”

Andrade explained that he believes that the then Chief of Staff of Desantis was involved in mediating grants between the Hope Florida Foundation and the two entities that received $5 million each.
He also denounced the Florida initiative itself, saying “we can’t support any claims about what state employees are doing.”
“The Florida concept of hope tells existing employees to do a better job of helping people,” Andrede added. “that’s it.”
DeSantis previously addressed Andrede’s claims at a May 21 press conference in the Westin, Florida.
