DHS claims that city council members are illegal aliens whose ice has been arrested for “inciting chaos”

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) said members of Massachusetts’ Worcester City Council “caused confusion” when US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents arrested alien who was violent and illegally criminalized on Thursday.

“The City of Worcester District Councilor [Etel] Haxhiaj has caused confusion by pulling political stunts and trying to sabotage law enforcement. ICE officers and local police have regained control of the situation and ICE arrested Ferreira de Oliveira,” said DHS Deputy Chief Tricia McLaughlin.

DHS continued to describe Oliveira as a “violent criminal alien.” The agency said a pregnant woman was arrested by local police for assault and battery with dangerous weapons and assault and battery.

A nervous video appeared over the weekend of Oliveira’s arrest. A rough crowd of about 25 people gathered to disrupt the surgery. Police called it a “confusing incident.”

The video showed a group of residents chanting “Don’t take your mother” and “No warrant” after a woman was led to an SUV by uniformed ice and US customs and border protection agents. The other women are seen yelling in protest before the vehicle is pulled away.

The Worcester Police Patrol Officers Union said in a press release that the incident occurred around 11:15am on Thursday, and that police were dispatched for calls from federal law enforcement officials who needed assistance due to hostile and uncooperative crowds.

“Officers who arrived on the scene continued to seek more officers as the scene continued to escalate rapidly,” the union said. “Cops respond to a variety of very emotional calls every day, and nothing is more emotional or difficult to deal with than phone calls, including time for families to be separated or arrested or detained in front of other families.

All police officers available from Worcester were sent to the scene, and the union continued, and “for obvious reasons” officers became concerned about their safety.

The federal and local governments have been “intimidated, abused and even assaulted” on the scene, the union said.

“We cannot tolerate or tolerate such conduct. Some protesters threatened the safety of officers, and police had to make additional arrests,” the union said. “In this case, the most concern is Etel Haxhiaj, a 5th Ward City Councilman, one of the elected policymakers and the person who created this difficult task for police, sparked an attack on police during the incident.

“This councillor took part in the unruly crowd acts and ultimately assaulted both Worcester police and federal law enforcement officials on the scene. Her actions encouraged others to act this way,” the union added. “The actions of this anti-government activist councillor are deplorable and unacceptable. Regardless of political opinions or views, city officials should not tolerate officer attacks and completely ignore the violent point of opposition, the police’s authority to maintain safety and public order.”

As a result, the union said it wanted an ethical investigation into Haxhiaj’s actions, adding that it would force her and the officers to embrace others who attacked responsibility.

“No one has the right to act in such a reckless manner against police officers. We demand accountability for all criminally and ethically deplorable behaviour,” the union said.

Haxhiaj did not respond to Fox News Digital’s request for comment on this issue.

The Worcester Police Department said during the chaotic events on Thursday, Worcester Spring, 38, was also arrested for “pushing multiple officers” and “threw unknown liquid substances at them.”

Spring was charged with assault and battery of a police officer, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon (unknown liquid), disorderly conduct and interfering with a police officer.

The Worcester Police Department said “the confusing incident is still under investigation,” and further charges could be approaching.
