Legendary entertainer Dick Van Dyke celebrated his 99th birthday on Friday, just days after his tragic escape from a wildfire near his home in Malibu.

Van Dyke, who appeared on “The Dick Van Dyke Show” from 1961 to 1966, shared some hilarious moments about the milestone.

“I lit 99 candles and tried to set Malibu on fire,” he joked.

This celebration takes place immediately after a dramatic event. Van Dyke said he collapsed trying to protect his backyard from the Franklin Fire and was carried to safety by neighbors.

“Suddenly I ran out of gas and couldn’t stand up,” Van Dyke recalled. “Two men came to pick me up and put me in the car.”

He and his wife, Arlene, were both unharmed, as was their home, partially intact, and partially at the Hollywood History Museum. However, investigators are still trying to determine the cause of the fire, which gutted a nearby home. As of early Friday morning, the fire was 30% contained and nearby roads remained closed.

Actor Dick Van Dyke recounts the terrifying moments of the Franklin fire.

Van Dyke’s son, Barry, said he was determined to find his father despite the obstacles.

“I’d like to talk to it and see if I can get in,” he said. Eventually, Barry managed to reach Van Dyke with his grandson Wes and great-grandson Kyla.

Kyla sent a heartfelt birthday message: “Dear Grandpa, I hope you have a wonderful birthday. I love you, Kyla.”

The reunion was Van Dyke’s first time seeing his family since the fires swept through the area.

Reflecting on his milestone birthday, Van Dyke said, “Tomorrow, I will celebrate the first day of my 100th birthday. Can you believe it? I can’t believe it. I can’t think of myself because I don’t feel like I’m 99 years old.” ” he said. I mean, I don’t feel great, but I don’t feel like 99 either. ”

The actor planned to celebrate with an intimate family gathering. The dramatic events of the past few days have provided more than enough excitement.

As for the future, Van Dijk hasn’t lost his sense of humor or ambition. When asked about his plans for next year, he said, “I want to get a job. I want to get a job.”

“I could play someone’s grandfather on a sitcom or something, just to keep them busy. I’m not being paid to do it,” he added.

He recently revealed that he has been in talks with major studios and famous directors, hinting at the possibility of a return to the big screen.

For now, the Hollywood legend is focused on family, recovery, and the next chapter of his extraordinary life.

Dick Van Dyke is trying to popularize the saying, “You can’t teach an old dog new tricks.”
