The National Weather Service (NWS) is sending an investigation team to a Los Angeles County neighborhood after the tornado may have been touched Thursday morning.
A resident in the 9500 block of Glencannon Drive, Pico Rivera, contacted KTLA that a tornado had hit the ground around 3:15am.
“There’s a big pine tree that’s uprooted and landed on the car. Viewer Carroll says viewer Carroll is flooded with fallen power lines and main breaks of water and streets.
The NWS has not confirmed whether the damage was caused by a tornado, but it plans to investigate.

“This morning we’ve heard a report of a tornado near Pico Rivera around 315am. @NWSLOSANGELES will send a Storm Investigation Team late this morning to investigate the damage that has occurred.”
KTLA meteorologist Henry DiCarlo spoke about some of the things weather authorities are looking for.
“It’s going to take a few hours… They see the damage, they can see the damage path and decide if it’s just a downburst or a swirling tornado,” Henry said.
The investigation comes as Southern California was hit with heavy rain and gusts of wind on Thursday morning.
A powerful winter storm is expected to bring half a half of the rain to the coast and valleys of Los Angeles County by the time the front exits late Thursday morning. 3-4 inches can fall into hilly and mountainous regions.
