Disabled veterans detained during immigration attacks have spoken out and allegedly civil rights violations

A 25-year-old disabled Army veteran who was detained during an immigration attack on a cannabis farm in Ventura County called his arrest a “violation of my civil rights” and called for a full investigation into the conduct of immigration agents involved in the operation.

George Rix, a US citizen and security guard at Glasshouse Farm in Camarillo, gained federal custody on July 10 when authorities described it as a massive immigration enforcement action. The attack attracted protests from farm workers, advocacy groups and United Farm Worker Union.

In a statement to the KTLA on Tuesday, Retes said he was “illegally detained by an ice agent while simply trying to report it to work.” He claimed he sprayed peppers, fell into tear gas, destroyed the car windows, and was forced to remove from his car with a muzzle.

“I have clearly identified myself as a US citizen and a farm employee,” he continues.

According to Retes, he was in custody for three days without being charged, without making a call, without legal representation. He said he was never told why he was arrested, “Even though it was covered in tear gas and OC spray, he never said why he didn’t see a doctor.

“This isn’t how Americans should be treated, and not the veterans who especially honored the country,” he said. “I didn’t break the law. I was about to go to work.”

The RETIS statement directly challenges federal agencies involved in the already scrutinized attack after the union reported that at least one person had died during the operation.

“What happened to me was not just a mistake, it was a violation of my civil rights,” Littes said. “It was an overpowering force. And it was a failure of justice.”

He is currently seeking a full investigation into the actions of immigration and customs enforcement, as well as the actions of other agencies involved in the attack.

“I want an agent who ignores protocols and uses his strength to hold him accountable,” he said. “And I want the public to know the truth. This attack didn’t just target immigrants. It hurt Americans too.”

The resurrection concluded his statement by swearing not to be silent. “I served this country,” he said.

KTLA then contacted DHS for comments and awaited a response.
