The suspect is loosened after the man was found with a fatal stab wound outside a grocery store in Brentwood on Tuesday night.
Police were called to the 11,700 block of San Vicente Boulevard, which was reportedly being reported near Whole Foods Market around 9pm
Officers arrived found a 39-year-old man on the ground, suffering from multiple stab wounds, a Los Angeles Police Department spokesman confirmed to KTLA.
The victim was identified as a presumably a homeless veteran and was taken to a local hospital where he was declared dead.
Investigators believe the victim was involved in a verbal altercation with the suspect, and the suspect pulled out a knife and stabbed him several times before leaving the scene.

The unidentified suspect is said to be wearing dark-coloured clothing and is also considered a veteran.
It was unclear what led to the argument, but bystanders apparently witnessed the incident. Police are also looking for possible surveillance video.
