The Walt Disney Company is donating $15 million to rebuilding and relief efforts as deadly wildfires continue to ravage Southern California.
The company said the funds will be donated to organizations providing essential services on the ground, including the American Red Cross, the Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation and the Los Angeles Area Food Bank.
“We have been working around the clock to ensure the safety and health of our employees, many of whom have been affected by these fires, and we are committed to supporting those facing hardship. “We intend to provide additional resources to the Employee Relief Fund as a result of this crisis,” the company said in a statement Friday night.
They also expressed their gratitude to the firefighters and first responders who came out to fight the wildfires.
“While the fires continue to rage and the full extent of the damage will not be known for some time, our hearts go out to everyone affected by the devastating fires across Southern California, and we continue to extend our condolences to all residents. We urge everyone to remain vigilant and stay safe, following guidance from local authorities,” the company said. “We are proud to provide support to this resilient and vibrant community during this difficult moment.”
Firefighters and first responders are battling several large wildfires, including the Palisades Fire in Pacific Palisades, the Eaton Fire near Altadena/Pasadena, and the Kenneth Fire near Calabasas/West Hills.
At least 10 people were killed as the fast-moving fire destroyed thousands of buildings and forced many to flee their homes.
