Disneyland Resort announced several major updates on its future on Thursday, including plans and details for the new parking structure for the “Avatar” and “Coco” attractions that will be appearing at Disney California Adventure Park.

The 6,000-space parking lot was built east of Harbour Boulevard and features a pedestrian bridge and a redesigned Esplanade arrival experience. Construction is scheduled to begin in fall 2026.

The new area also includes designated shuttle and ride-sharing zones, security screenings and dedicated transportation access from the Disney Way. This is an improvement aimed at reducing crowds throughout the resort and enhancing guest flow.

The parking and transport hub follows years of planning, and will soon be following approval of the Disneyland Forward Project last May.

“The provision of these enhanced parking, transportation and arrivals is the first step in the next construction phase, creating the infrastructure needed to prepare for future growth and welcome more guests as new experiences are added,” a Disneyland official said in a news release.

Disneyland also shared new details about its first “Coco”-themed attraction, first unveiled at the D23 Expo in Anaheim last year. The new ride is located near Pixar Pier Garden and Paradise Garden, and will mainly be built in the area currently behind the scenes. Construction is scheduled to begin this fall.

Disney said the Imagineers, who are working on the “Coco” attraction, are inspired by iconic attractions such as the Ghost Mansion and the Pirates of the Caribbean.

“We are making a massive skeletal cast of characters through the latest audio animatronic technology,” Disney Experience Chairman Josh Damaro said at the D23 Expo last year. “These numbers manifest in the way you have to look to believe.”

Disneyland has also revealed the future location of the avatar-themed land. The avatar-themed land will be built in the current Hollywood Backlot area of Disney California Adventure. To make way for new lands, Monsters, Inc. Mike & Sulley are rescued! It will be closed forever in early 2026.

Disneyland said details about the resort’s planned expansion will be shared at a later date.
