It’s not a summer in Los Angeles. It’s not Los Angeles summer until the first cemetery screening brings a huge buck for movie lovers to foldable chairs, picnic blankets, snack spreads and plenty of liquor at Hollywood Forever Cemetery. The beginning of this year’s film lineup is actually a Saturday screening of Big Lebowski, a man-observed man. (The Sunday Clueless screening is already sold out.) Other series feature flicks this weekend, including La La Land, 9-5 and Top Gun: Maverick.

One of our favorites is Annenberg Community Beach House, a former Hollywood beachfront estate that has been transformed into a public club. The weather isn’t hot yet, but it’s never a bad time to cool down and indulge in the best frozen treats in town, from artisan scoops to soft serves to shaved ice. One of our picks, Handel’s homemade ice cream, has opened a new shop in Burbank, worth a visit (it has over 100 flavors, but the refreshing mint oreo is not wrong).
