If you are trying to find a lip sync, listen to the asserted syllables and small flaws that can be cut off before cutting. If the song sounds exactly the same as the version you streamed millions of times, it’s probably the exact same track.
You can hear some of these natural variations at Usher’s Super Bowl halftime performance last year. Sometimes his voice sounds a bit breathless as he sings, dances (and roller skates) at the same time. Also, he sang most of the lines, but left the last few words on the backing track so you can hear the difference.

Lip sync doesn’t mean poor performance, experts say. Sometimes it’s the right move to ensure the perfect show.

Whitney Houston also lip-synced at the Super Bowl, but not during the halftime show. Her 1991 national anthem production (often cited as one of the greatest of all time) was pre-recorded.
