Dodger Stadium’s gondola plan continues to stir debate between supporters and opponents as the proposal progresses through further public hearings.
The two groups clashed over a gondola meant to transport people to Dodger Stadium.
The proposed gondola includes three stations, three towers and a junction, which proponents argue will provide zero-emission transportation that will reduce traffic in and around Dodger Stadium. There is.
The project must be approved by the State Parks Commission and the City of Los Angeles. Part of the gondola will be built atop the Los Angeles State Historic Park near Chinatown.
One of the businesses opposing the project is Juanita’s Cafe on Olvera Street, which has been run by the Flores family for 80 years.
“The gondola is less than 100 feet from my business, so the construction will not only impact my business, but it will also damage several historic buildings here on Olvera Street.” Edward Flores said.
Gondola supporters say more than 78% of Los Angeles County residents support the project, according to an independent poll.
“We wholeheartedly support the gondola as a way to help rebuild Chinatown,” said Gay Yuenwu of the Chinese American Museum. “We believe it will bring in foot traffic, families, and consumers. “That’s what Chinatown business will be like.”
Supporters say the gondola can carry up to 10,000 people to Dodger Stadium before the game. Critics say it will only benefit the Dodgers by making traffic congestion worse.
“My only goal is to help the Dodgers, who are dealing with a very influential billionaire,” Flores said.
