According to a team spokesperson, the Dodgers on Thursday will announce plans to support the affected immigrant communities in Los Angeles recently.
The announcement marks the Dodgers’ first public comment on recent unrest in the city since federal immigration agents began launching raids across Southland almost two weeks ago.
The Dodgers initially refused to make public comments when the attack first began. However, their silence has become divisive among some of their fanbase, with the recent team increasing social media calls to address what’s going on around the city.
Manager Dave Roberts said last week about the situation, “I hope we can be positively distracted by what people are experiencing in Los Angeles right now.”

The Dodgers got caught up in related controversy last weekend, with singer and social media personality Neza singing Spanish for the national anthem at Dodger Stadium in a protest against the migrant attack despite being asked by team employees to sing in English.
To this point, other local professional sports teams who publish official statements following the attack are soccer clubs LAFC and Angel City FC, acknowledging that “fear and uncertainty” is felt throughout the LA community.
