Last October, as the Los Angeles Dodgers charged toward the World Series, the Boys in Blue’s weaknesses were constantly being pointed out. It was a relief pitcher.
That wasn’t a hindrance for a team that defeated the New York Yankees in five games to win another title, but it didn’t stop the Dodgers’ front office from improving their bullpen.
As first reported by Mark Feinsand of MLB.com, the Dodgers signed left-handed relief pitcher Tanner Scott on Sunday.
Scott played in four games for the San Diego Padres in last year’s National League Division Series against the Dodgers. The Padres acquired him from the Miami Marlins before the MLB trade deadline.

The contract is worth $72 million over four seasons, Feinsand said.
Scott was an All-Star last season with the Marlins before being traded. He finished the season with an excellent 1.75 ERA over 72 innings pitched with 22 saves.
He played his first five seasons with the Baltimore Orioles.
Now, Scott has a chance to compete for the title of defending champion in Los Angeles. He is the newest addition to the Dodgers. The Dodgers have had a great offseason building their roster.
Scott joins Japanese pitcher Aki Sasaki and Korean second baseman Kim Hye-sung as major-league signees for the Dodgers this offseason. They also re-signed fan-favorite slugger Teoscar Hernandez, who had the best season of his career in 2024.
