The Dodgers and Angels will play for the first time in Southern California when they meet at Dodger Stadium on Sunday in 2025 to begin their three-game highway series.
Left-handed Jackson Ferris starts for the Dodgers in a spring training game with right-handed Jose Soriano.
Ferris split the season between the Tulsa Oilers, an invited to spring training and a Double A Texas League affiliate, a High Midwest League affiliate in the Dodgers class after scoring a 5-7 record with a 3.20 ERA in 2024. He has no record of two spring training appearances at the 6.00 ERA.
Soriano was 6-7, with 22 appearances with the Angels in 2024 with an ERA of 3.42, including 20 starts. He is 0-2 and has an ERA of 4.30 with five spring training starts.
The Dodgers were 12-8 in Cactus League play and the Angels were 10-16-4.
The 5:10pm game Dodgers will air on SportsNet LA, while Angels will air on Fanduel Sports Network SoCal.
The final two games of the Highway Series will take place at Angel Stadium on Monday and Tuesday.
The Angels led the series that began in 1962, 77-57, with five games finished in bonds. The Angels won two of the three games in 2024.
The spring training game tied after nine innings is conventionally called when a scheduled pitcher for the day is used.
The real-life World Series champion Dodgers will play regular season home opener with the Detroit Tigers on Thursday.
The Angels faced the White Sox in Chicago on Thursday, when left-handed Yusei Kikuchi made their team debut after signing a three-year, $63 million contract in November. Kikuchi began the season with the Toronto Blue Jays with a 32 start in 2024, 9-10 with a 4.05 ERA, 4.05, and then traded with the Houston Astros.
The Angels are about to rebound from their worst record, 63-99, in 64 American League seasons.
