Between announcing his marriage, winning his third MVP award, and winning the World Series, Los Angeles Dodgers superstar Shohei Ohtani had quite the year in 2024.
And now, 2025 could be an even better year for Japan’s two-way baseball prodigy. Otani also announced on Instagram on Saturday that his wife Mamiko Tanaka and their beloved online dog Decoy are welcoming a baby into the family.

“We can’t wait for little Rookie to join our family soon,” Ohtani wrote in a social media post.
The photo featured a pink baby onesie and shoes from Ohtani and Decoy’s sponsored New Balance, along with a baby ultrasound covered in emojis.

Within minutes, the Dodgers and MLB congratulated the couple in the comments of the post.
“Congratulations Shohei and Mamiko,” the Dodgers IG account said.
