Yankees supporters are used to Dodger Stadium being hostile ground, but being hit by a mass of concrete falling from the stadium ceiling is beyond what fans themselves have hit steel to encounter.
That’s certainly what one Yankees fan said happened to him at the Dodgers Yankees game on Friday.
Mexico City’s Ricardo Aquino told athletic via a translator that part of the ceiling struck him behind while sitting on the stadium’s top deck during the three innings of the match. The photographs showed that the piece was almost baseball-sized.
Aquino says he is in pain but paints ice packs and has become a soldier throughout the rest of the game. The Dodgers ultimately won 8-5.
A day later, the Times confirmed that a concrete net had been installed in the area of the reserve ceiling of Section 10 where the incident was reported.
