The Trump administration’s Office of Government Efficiency (DOGE) has discovered an identification code that links US financial payments to items in the budget.
“The Treasury Access Symbol (TAS) is an identification code that links Treasury payments to budget items (standard financial processes),” Doge wrote in X’s post. “The ‘s ‘s paid, often left blank, making traceability nearly impossible as of Saturday, and more insight into where it actually goes. ”
The agency thanked the US Treasury for their work identifying areas of options.

According to the Department of Finance Services, which is under the Ministry of Finance, the TAS code describes one of the account identification codes assigned by the Ministry of Finance, also known as “accounts.”
All financial transactions made by the federal government are classified by TAS when reporting to the Department of Treasury and the Office of Control and Budget (OMB).
The finding was announced the same day when Doge appeared to embed the Doge.gov Savings page. This said Monday evening that the total savings since the division was established totaled around $55 billion.

The department was created by an executive order and is a temporary organization within the White House that will last 18 months of its mission.
The group has faced criticism of access to federal systems, including the Treasury payment system, which has led to cancel federal contracts and cutting across various agencies.
The attorney general of 14 states is suing Doge to block access to federal data, claiming Musk and the Trump administration are engaged in an outline of illegal administration.

The newly formed cost-cutting agency won the victory Friday when a federal judge in Washington rejected a request to temporarily block access to sensitive data from the Department of Labor, Health and Human Services and the Consumer Financial Protection Agency .
