According to Government Efficiency (DOGE), the Veterans Affairs Bureau (VA) paid hundreds of thousands of dollars a month for website changes before cancelling the contract and internal staff took over.
While examining the load and large amounts of data, Doge discovered a previous contract by the VA for website maintenance.
“Good job with @deptvetaffairs,” Doge said in a post on X on Wednesday. “VA previously paid $380,000 a month for minor website changes. That contract has not been renewed and the same work is being carried out by one internal VA software engineer spending 10 hours per week.”
Fox News Digital has contacted the VA to comment on its previous agreement.

VA Secretary Doug Collins defended Doge Cuts in the VA as part of the new administration’s efforts to reform the department and serve veterans.
In February, the VA announced that the layoffs of more than 1,000 employees will allow the department to redirect more than $98 million in resources annually with resources returned to healthcare, benefits and services for VA beneficiaries.
Billionaire Elon Musk has been the face of Doge since President Donald Trump signed an executive order to establish the division on January 20th.

Trump has given organizations 18 months to do that by optimizing the federal government, streamlining their businesses, reducing spending.
In addition to discoveries like the previous contracts signed by the VA for website maintenance, Doge continues to find waste and fraud among federal agencies.
Last week, Doge announced the termination of 113 contracts worth $4.7 billion, including a USDA consulting agreement on Peru’s climate change activities.

Doge also announced that the Labor Department has cancelled $577 million with the “America’s Last” grant, and cancelled its total savings of $237 million.
The cancelled funds included $10 million for “gender equity in the Mexican workplace,” $12.2 million for “South American Worker Empowerment,” and $6.25 million for “improving respect for workers’ rights in the agricultural supply chain” in Honduras, Guatemala and El Salvador.
As of April 2, Doge had billed it on its site, saving Americans $140 billion, or $869.57 per taxpayer.

Doge critics argue that organizations should not have access to the federal system too much and be allowed to cancel federal contracts or cut down on various agencies.
