The government’s Department of Efficiency (DOGE) has shunned various legal attempts to further reduce federal spending of hundreds of millions and block cost-cutting efforts.
Here are some of Doge’s big wins this week:
1. Judge shoots demands to stop the firing of federal workers
On Thursday, Obama’s appointee, U.S. District Judge Christopher Cooper, has suspended massive shootings of federal workers by the Trump administration, including the National Federation of Treasury Officials (NTEU). I fired down a request from.
The NTEU, which represents federal employees, and four other unions filed a complaint on February 12, challenging the termination and postponement of probation employees’ resignation programs.

Cooper denied the demand to stop the fire, saying the court lacked jurisdiction over the union’s claims.
Instead, Cooper ruled that unions must pursue their agenda through the federal labor management relations law.
2. The judge says Doge can continue digging
Doge received another victory by US District Judge Tanya S. Chutkan. He rejected a request to issue temporary restraining orders that would prevent Musk and Doge from accessing the Ministry of Education, the Department of Personnel Management (OPM) and the Ministry of Labor’s data systems. Ministry of Health and Human Services, Ministry of Energy, Ministry of Transport and Commerce.

3. The judge grants access to data from three federal agencies
Doge won the courtroom after a federal judge rejected a request that Elon Musk’s government efficiency team temporarily block access to sensitive data from at least three federal agencies.
Unions and nonprofits have tried to stop mask Doge from accessing records from the Department of Labor, Health and Human Services and the Consumer Financial Protection Agency.
This effort was blocked by District Judge John Bates. John Bates wrote that the government is likely to be correct when classifying Doge as an agent, which allowed staff to be detailed to other government departments.

4. Doge finds near-untraceable budget line items responsible for $4.7T in payment
Earlier this week, Doge announced it had discovered an identification code that linked US financial payments to budget line items.

“The Treasury Access Symbol (TAS) is an identification code that links Treasury payments to budget items (standard financial processes),” Doge wrote in X’s post.
“In the federal government, the TAS field is an option with a payment of ~$4.7 trillion, often left blank, making traceability almost impossible. As of Saturday, this was a necessary area and in fact It enhances insight into where to go.”
The agency thanked the US Treasury for its work identifying areas of options.
According to the Department of Finance Services under the Ministry of Finance, the TAS code describes one of the account identification codes assigned by the Ministry of Finance, also known as “accounts.”

Doge revealed Thursday that the school had spent nearly $200 billion on the Covid Relief Fund “with little surveillance or impact on students.”

Utah’s Granite Public Schools spent $86,000 in Covid relief funds in a hotel room at Caesars Palace, a Las Vegas casino in Ritz. .
The cost reduction department also revealed that the school spent $60,000 on Covid relief funds for the Swimming Pool Pass, and that the California area used the funds to buy ice cream trucks.
6. Working with HegsethDoge to cut “BS”
Defense Secretary Pete Hegses said he believes he will work with Doge to cuts within his department and find waste “not at the core of our mission.”

“They’re here and we’re welcoming them,” Hegses said in a recent video released Thursday. “They will obviously have wide access with all the protections regarding classification.
“They, like us, care about finding redundancy and identifying the last trace of Biden’s priorities.”
Hegseth, who said many Doge workers are veterans, met with Musk’s team and said he has already begun a Pentagon review.
7.Doge discovers over 4 million government credit cards responsible for 90m transactions
Doge revealed on Tuesday that the US government has more than 4 million active credit cards in the book.
“The US government currently has around 4.6 million active credit cards/accounts, which handled ~90m unique transactions at $400 billion in spending[ing] In 2014, Doge said in an X post.

The cost-reducing division disrupted multiple federal agencies and their credit card use, with DOD leading the way in both the number of transactions of around 27.2 million and the number of individual accounts of around 2.4 million.

Musk gave a speech to conservatives on Thursday, where he promoted Doge’s achievements and at one point he was on stage with a golden chainsaw given to him by Argentine President Javier Mailey. Of the conservative crowd at Maryland’s Conservative Political Action Conference.
“We’re fighting against the big time in the Matrix here,” Musk said. “We have to do it.”
