The Justice Department is launching a crime investigation into leaks related to Venezuelan gangster Tren de Aragua, a major focus of the Trump administration’s deportation efforts.
In a statement, Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche said the DOJ has launched an investigation relating to “inaccurate, yet still information from the intelligence agency.”

“We will not tolerate deep state politically motivating efforts to reverse President Trump’s agenda by leaking false information to pages of New York Times’ allies,” Blanche said. “The declaration of an alien enemy is supported by facts, laws and common sense, and is established in court and expels TDA terrorists in this country.”
Earlier this month, President Donald Trump declared that he would use the declaration of alien enemy to quickly track the deportation of TDA members who live illegally in the United States.

The declaration, a wartime law, approves the removal of Venezuelan citizens over the age of 14 and is considered a member of the group that is not a US citizen or a legal permanent resident.
The last time this law was invoked was during World War II. At that time, it was used to place many non-citizens of Japanese, German and Italian descent in concentration camps.
