Police released video footage of dangerous high-speed pursuits on Friday through multiple San Bernardino County cities that ended up with officers who fired domestic violence suspects.

According to the Chino Police Station, it happened at 12:06am on March 10, 2025 when the dispatch received a call reporting a domestic violence incident in which hemorrhaged heads in the 14,000 block of Monte Vista Avenue.

Surveillance video angled to the parking lot shows the suspect identified as 47-year-old Jose Martinez of Rialto, who is assaulting the victim.

First, Martinez and the unidentified victim are seen after they arrive at Lott and leave the car, but at first they appear to be talking.

The situation escalated quickly shortly after the edited footage, with Martinez rushing to snatch the victim’s arm and pulling her towards his white jeep SUV.

Martinez struggles for a while to push his girlfriend into his rear passenger seat, and when he thinks she is locked inside, he runs to the driver’s door.

The victim managed to escape, but it wasn’t long.

“When the victim fled Martinez’s car, Martinez caught her and then slammed her in the head onto a light pole and hit her multiple times,” the video’s narrator said. “Martinez tried to pull the victim back into the car again, but failed.”

Martinez abandons his girlfriend, who was lying on the pavement between the cars, and returns to his jeep before leaving the scene.

Officials said the victim was taken to a local hospital via ambulance and treated for head and face injuries. Her health was not immediately revealed.

The detective responded to the parking lot to pursue an investigation, and at about 11:30am, Martinez found that he had left Fontana’s residence in his white jeep SUV.

“Martinez is a convicted felon,” the video later said. “He was recently released from state prison after serving for 18 years on manslaughter charges with a firearm.”

The officer tried to stop Martinez’s car, but he refused to comply. Instead, he plunged into two cruisers – one in front of him, one in front of him – and chased him.

“Then, Martinez led officers through the cities of Fontana, Upland, Ontario, Chino and Montclair, and with extremely dangerous high-speed pursuits on highways and surface streets,” the narrator said.

During the pursuit, police said Martinez went above 100 mph, running multiple red lights, saying it was “extremely ignoring the safety of the public in the car.”

The pursuit ended around noon in the 10,800 block of Cadota Street in Montclair.

However, Martinez still refused to surrender or leave his SUV.

The standoff lasted more than an hour, and crisis negotiators urged Martinez to surrender peacefully, police said.

“You make decisions for yourself and tell your own story,” you can hear the negotiator say about the megaphone speaker. “Don’t do stupid things as if we make decisions for you. You’re doing a good job and come out.”

For reasons under investigation, Martinez suddenly got out of the car, took a “two-handed shooting stance” and pointed at the officer to something black.

Police then fired and attacked unreleased numbers, but the video captured at least two gunshots, simultaneously releasing Martinez’s K-9 unit as it threw the ground.

The first responder provided medical assistance to Martinez on the scene before taking him to the hospital, where he was last listed as in danger.

It was later determined that the object Martinez had was a portable battery pack. This appeared to show that the photos shared by Chino Police Station were holding him in his hand as if he were a gun.

Police say the incident is under three different investigations.

The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Office and the San Bernardino County District Attorney’s Office will investigate the police shooting. Fontana Police Station is investigating a deadly weapon attack for Martinez, who allegedly plunged police in his car. Chino Police Station will also investigate the initial domestic violence and attempted inducements and whether police were shot dead in line with departmental policies.
