A man was hospitalized with serious injuries after crashing into a traffic light pole in Orange County early Friday morning, police said.
Irvine police posted a photo on Instagram showing a traffic light pole sticking out nearly halfway past a car.
The crash happened at 1:03 a.m. Friday at the intersection of Modjeska Road and Stillnight Road in Irvine, the police department said in a caption.

“We quickly responded to the scene along with our partners at Orange County Fire Department (OCFA),” Irvine PD wrote. “They immediately extricated the driver from the vehicle and transported him to the hospital.”
According to police, the driver suffered serious injuries. The Instagram caption added: “Our thoughts are with him as he recovers.”
Irvine police had not provided an update on the driver’s condition as of Friday night.
Details are limited and police have not identified the driver or provided further information about the cause of the accident.
