San Bernardino County firefighters are fighting the raging fires erupted on tractor trailers carrying 25,000 pounds of tires, creating massive backups on 15 highways between Las Vegas and Los Angeles, where temperatures are close to 120 degrees, officials said.
A backup patrol report from the California Highway Patrol said the flames that exploded around 1pm in the Baker area of the Mohab Desert reportedly began when the Big Rig brakes started a fire.
Photos released by the San Bernardino County Fire Department show a massive plume of thick, dark smoke from a cicada who was completely involved in the fire.

Firefighters said high temperatures and limited water sources created challenging situations in combating the flames, encouraging drivers to avoid the area where possible.

Images posted to the Citizen app showed that traffic appeared to be backed up over several miles. Only one lane remained open.
Authorities added that additional ambulances and assistance units have been suspended to assist affected drivers caught in backup amid the intense heat.
So far, there have been reports of injuries.
