Police arrested a man Saturday on suspicion of driving under the influence and causing a multi-vehicle crash that killed a 75-year-old woman in Riverside County.
According to a preliminary investigation by Riverside Police, just before 6:30 p.m., a woman was driving a white 2005 Jeep Liberty eastbound on Collett Street in front of a suspected drunk driver who was driving a Toyota Tundra. Ta.
Investigators say the woman slowed down to make a left turn onto Stonewall Drive when the suspect rear-ended her Jeep, eventually pushing her into oncoming traffic and driving a red 2014 Toyota C-70. It is said that there was a head-on collision with HR. A 1-year-old male from Riverside.
According to police, a report of a three-vehicle collision was immediately received at the police station, and police and fire personnel responded to the scene, where they found the three people and treated them for injuries.
First responders found one of the drivers, a woman who was rear-ended, with life-threatening injuries and transported her to Riverside Community Hospital, where she was pronounced dead. She was identified only as a 75-year-old resident of Riverside.
Police did not immediately provide information on the condition of the other two injured.
Officers arrested the driver of the Toyota Tundra on suspicion of driving under the influence, identified only as a 38-year-old man from Norco, and booked him into the Robert Presley Detention Center.
The department said the investigation was ongoing but did not immediately provide further details.
