Authorities say that after a dump truck crashed into five vehicles, it cultivated West Hollywood’s iconic Whiskey A-Go-Go Club, knocking out electricity from businesses nearby the area.
Saadullah Sheikh, a spokesman for the Los Angeles County Fire Department, said no injuries have been reported and it is unclear why the dump truck driver loses control of the commercial vehicle.
The incident occurred before 2pm when a truck collided with five vehicles before it crashed into a building in the 8900 block of Sunset Boulevard, Sheikh said.
Jeff Monford, a spokesman for Edison in Southern California, said the dump truck had knocked down the main wire. He said the outages initially affected 1,420 customers, but when crews rerouted the power, it fell to 225 people.
He was on the scene where the crew was trying to fully deal with the blackout Friday afternoon, but he didn’t know when power would recover.
Photos shared on social media show a white dump truck filled with dirt that stays in a red brick building with a power transformer on the ground. Another photo shows a US postal service vehicle with its smashed front side on the right.
Representatives from Whiskey A Go Go could not be immediately contacted for comment. According to its website, several bands will be performing at the iconic entertainment venue on Friday nights.
