Spring warming trends could break afternoon records around Southern California on Monday.
“We’re really talking about normal temperatures,” said Kirk Hawkins of KTLA.
The National Weather Service (NWS) is expected to have afternoon highs in the 90s across Los Angeles and Ventura counties’ warmest valleys.
“Some of the areas that are basically alert include Woodland Hills, Ojai and Palmdale,” Kirk said. “Beware of temperatures close to or above record temperatures.”
Woodland Hills is expected to reach 95 degrees on Monday, which will break the March 24th record for 89.
The rise in temperatures has health officials concerned about fever-related illnesses, especially for children and seniors.
Recommended actions include staying hydrated, wearing light clothing, frequent breaks, and avoiding possible outdoor activities from 10am to 6pm.
Above average temperatures should last until Tuesday before returning to normal for the rest of the week.
