A man was shot dead in East LA in a shootout with Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Detectives.
Around 4:24am on Friday, lawmakers responded to a call for shots fired in the 1500 block of Helen Drive, an unincorporated residential area in Los Angeles near the exchange of 10 and 710 highways.
According to a sheriff’s report released Friday afternoon, the caller said the man was shot in the air. When deputies found the suspect, he allegedly began firing fire on the deputies.
Deputies allegedly attacked suspects, attacked suspects, attacked suspects, attacked suspects and continued shooting them, according to CBS News Los Angeles.
The lawmakers were able to approach the suspect who eventually fell. The paramedics were called, provided with medical assistance and declared the man who died at the scene.
His identity has not been disclosed and his motives for the shooting are under investigation.
News helicopter footage showed a crime scene with blurred images of the body on the street. More than a dozen yellow evidence markers pointed to where the bullet casing fell while shooting out.
The deputy was not injured. And several investigations are underway following protocols after being shot in a shooting involving officers.
The Sheriff’s Office’s Homicide and Interior Affairs Department are conducting separate investigations. The inspector’s office will also arrive on the scene and provide independent monitoring throughout the process.
