It’s Easter Sunday and those observing the holiday are celebrating the resurrection of Jesus Christ, but they also enjoy festivals with Easter Bunny, such as candy, egg hunting and photography.
While family festivals are celebrated, parents and guardians will want to take care to ensure that their little ones are safe, as they enjoy their little ones. Verdugo Fire Academy Chief Sam Digiovanna shared some helpful tips to help families celebrate safely.
It is important to start with a traditional Easter basket and keep in mind the risk of choking that can pose a risk to children. When purchasing or assemble a basket, buy age-appropriate toys and snacks that minimize the risk of choking. Plus, beware of the decorations that go into the basket.
“The fake grass can’t even be digested by rabbits, so kids think it’s edible in the baskets that they eat, so be careful,” Degiovanna said.
When it comes to egg hunting, place colorful treasures in safe areas for children.
“Do not put it in sharp objects kitchen drawers or pet bowls, or kitchen drawers with nothing above or below a glass table,” Degiovanna said. “And while hunting outdoors, avoid rocks and yard holes. You don’t know what’s hiding there.”
And with all the fuss and movements from egg hunting, it is especially important to look after younger children.
“Beware of children,” warned Degiovanna. “They’re going to get excited, they’re not going to pay much attention. They can easily wander the streets, they can keep an eye on them.
