A new wildfire broke out Tuesday night in the Eaton Canyon area near Altadena, forcing evacuations as devastating storms continue to batter Southern California.
The Eaton Fire was first reported around 6:30 p.m. and has since grown to more than 400 acres, Angeles National Forest officials said.
Crews from the Pasadena Fire Department, Los Angeles County Fire Department and U.S. Forest Service are responding to the blaze, and surrounding areas are being evacuated.

Details are still limited and it is unclear how many homes and buildings could be threatened.

The destructive and life-threatening storm is expected to reach maximum wind speeds starting at 10pm Tuesday night and continuing into Wednesday morning.
Fire officials are asking the public to be prepared, heed evacuation warnings and stay off the roads if possible so emergency personnel can access areas at risk.
“If you are in an evacuation area, please bring all necessary items with you in preparation for an extended evacuation,” Pasadena Fire Department officials said.
