As Los Angeles residents move from emergency to recovery mode after two devastating wildfires, crews are on track to fully contain the blazes.
As of 12:40 p.m. Saturday, crews had the Eaton Fire 73% contained, according to the latest numbers released by Cal Fire. The fire destroyed much of Altadena and parts of Sierra Madre, destroying nearly 9,000 structures.
Approximately 90% of the structures in the Eaton Fire footprint had been assessed by Saturday afternoon.

The death toll from the Eaton Fire is up to 17, according to Cal Fire. At least seven firefighters were injured.
Cal Fire said crews were taking advantage of Saturday’s light winds to use air support to extinguish and ignite remaining flames. Officials said crews surrounded the fire.

The Palisades Fire was at 43% containment as of 11:39 a.m. Saturday, according to Cal Fire. The area burned remained at 23,713, the same as in the previous few days.
The fire swept through the Santa Monica Mountains and destroyed more than 3,800 structures across the Pacific Palisades and Malibu. As a result, 10 deaths were confirmed.

Damage assessment was ongoing as of Saturday. Cal Fire said minimal fire activity was observed in the morning, so the risk is minimal if winds pick up again.
