Eight puppies rescued from under a burning car last week are currently being cared for and will be adopted out next month.
The 5-week-old shepherd-type puppy was rescued in the Palmdale area last week.
When firefighters extinguished the fire, they found the puppies in a box under the burning vehicle. They were taken to Los Angeles County Fire Department 92 Precinct in Little Rock, where they were cleaned and taken to Los Angeles County Animal Control’s Palmdale shelter.
The shelter asked for help finding homes for the puppies, and Best Friends Animal Society agreed to care for them at an adoption center in West LA.

All eight puppies are currently being cared for at foster homes and are expected to be adopted out in early December, officials said. The litter consists of six boys and two girls, all of whom are receiving “life-saving treatment.”
Hundreds of animals end up in local shelters every week, but puppies are especially vulnerable. Best Friends Animal Society says puppies are more likely to get sick in a shelter environment, which can eventually lead to death.
The nonprofit says its mission is to care for at-risk animals and reduce shelter crowding by placing pets in foster homes or permanent homes.
