Ventura County authorities are investigating the deaths of a 91-year-old man and his 89-year-old wife who were shot in an apparent murder-suicide.
Around 2:25 p.m. Thursday, Ventura County sheriff’s deputies responded to a residence on Blair Court in Camarillo after receiving a 911 call from a man reporting that he had shot his wife and was attempting to commit suicide.
When officers arrived at the home and went inside, they found the bodies of 91-year-old Kendall Conger and his wife, 89-year-old Kay Conger, both suffering from gunshot wounds.
“Lifesaving measures were attempted, but the subject was pronounced dead at the scene,” the sheriff’s office said in a press release Friday afternoon.
Details of the investigation remain extremely limited, but law enforcement officials said this appears to be an isolated incident and there is no active threat to the public.
Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact VCSO Detective DeLaCerda at 805 384-4724.
