The 13-year-old on an electric bike was hospitalized Monday afternoon after slamming him into an Inland Empire pickup truck at a red light.
According to the release of the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, lawmakers responded to the intersection of Haven Avenue and 19th Avenue in Rancho Cucamonga around 2pm on a report of a traffic collision.
Upon arriving at the intersection, deputies learned from witnesses that the boy on an electric motorbike, which authorities described as “fraud”, did not stop in the red light at the intersection.
The pickup driver, identified as Brian Kennan, stopped the truck after seeing him move west and not stop. However, the boy was unable to brake within the time limit and collided with Kenan’s Dodge Ram pickup.
“The collision drove a boy rider on the truck into the street,” SBSD said in the release.

The boy was taken to a nearby hospital with “several injuries,” but the extent of his wounds was not revealed.
No injuries have been reported for Kenan, 52, a resident of Grass Valley in Northern California, Nevada County.

San Bernardino County representatives reminded all residents that electric dirt bikes and motorcycles are not intended for use on public roads. They are classified as California vehicle codes, so electric dirt bikes and motorcycles must register them and follow the same driving rules as cars.
Additionally, all riders must have a valid motorcycle driver’s license.
