House Republicans have accused Democrats of running their opposition campaign against GOP’s government fundraising plans against their anger over Elon Musk and his Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) efforts.
“They hate Elon Musk and Donald Trump more than they love their country,” Rep. Nancy Mace, Rs.C., told Fox News Digital. “They’re just losing their f—–heart.”
Mace was still optimistic that some Democrats would vote for the law Tuesday afternoon. [former President Joe Biden] He was the president. That’s this – it’s just a political game. ”

“They’ve been nothing but political losses since November. I think they’ve been suffering for a long time last week. “I think they have to keep fighting, but what they need to do is the right thing to do. Keep the government open.”
Musk and his doge’s work have been filled with almost extraordinary condemnation by Democrats, even those who agreed to the need to cut the federal bureaucracy.
Democrats kept the mask as a political boogieman. This is an unelected billionaire with too much access to the federal government, who also makes profits as a military contractor.
However, Republicans defend his work when necessary, with a few exceptions.
D-Colo. Rep. Jason Crow, of the group, told Fox News Digital that Musk is “injuring the government” but denied it was a factor in a decision that could oppose the funding bill.
“Musk doesn’t live without rent in my head,” Crow said. “I’m not making legislative decisions based on what Elon Musk and what he’s doing and what he’s not doing… I’m focusing on my constituents.”

Rep. Jared Moskowitz, D-Fla. , when asked about Musk, he didn’t mention the billionaire at all. Instead, he pivoted to criticize House Republicans for placing a suspended government funding bill known as the Continuing Resolution (CR) for votes, rather than dealing with the fiscal year (FY) 2025 spending bill.
“Republicans have long said that CRS is not a way to fund the government. Johnson has committed to implementing individual spending bills, which was his pitch to his colleagues to remain speakers.
But nonetheless, Democrats have been using musk on the public broadside of the bill.
“It steals veterans’ health care. It strips crucial research funds. These are things Republicans are willing to do to continue the tax credits on Elon Musk and Donald Trump’s friends.
D-Va. Senator Don Beyel wrote to X: “Trump and Musk are illegally closing federal agencies, firing large numbers of federal workers, and freezing Congress’s mandatory funds. It’s causing massive unemployment and economic disruption for my members, and Republican CR will continue this disaster.”

The proposed CR will roughly freeze government funds on October 1st at the 2024 level until the beginning of 2026. This includes additional funding for national defense, reducing de-evacuation funds by approximately $13 billion.

House GOP leadership aides said over the weekend that the bill includes additional funding for veterans’ health care.
Democrats usually vote in large numbers to avoid government shutdowns, but this time Republicans may need to share the burden primarily on their own.
As of Monday night, several Republicans are still undecided on how to vote despite Trump calling on GOP lawmakers on the fence.
