Encino’s two new home break-ins came when the community gathered for a safety meeting, both within minutes of each other, after last week’s double murder.
Hundreds of community members packed a safety meeting on Monday, raising concerns about crime in the neighborhood.
Shortly after the meeting, the Los Angeles Police Department answered robbery calls at two homes.
One of the reports came from the possible robbery at his home in the 4900 block of Enfield Avenue around 10:04pm.
Police said the homeowner was not a home, but called the 911 after seeing the robber inside the house with security cameras.
By the time police arrived, the suspicious robber had left. It was not clear if anything had been taken.
Just minutes after the incident, two and a half miles away, another call was made to call for the possibility of a robbery for the home in the 4500 block of Havenhurst Drive.
LAPD said the neighbors would call police and report that they would leave the black BMW in hoodies and break into the house through the garage.
The homeowners were present at the time, but there was no contact between them and the suspected robbery. It was unclear whether anything was taken in this case as well.
These incidents come after the deaths of “American Idol” executive Robin Kay and her husband Thomas Delca.
District Attorney Nathan Hochman shared new details about the double murder, saying that 22-year-old Raymond Boudarian, accused of murder, used his cell phone to call police about the incident.
Boudarian identifies himself, and police pinged his cell phone, followed him and arrested him.
The DA also shared that the boudarians of the guns used belong to the couple.
The Boudarian was booked last year for suspected threats, weapons and battery charging. The judge dismissed his case after a mental health assessment.
After the Monday night meeting, LAPD said it would increase patrols, particularly at 7pm and 7am.
They also said they would fly helicopters to ensure the community is safe.
