The Biden administration’s State Department has approved a taxpayer fund worth more than $1 million to renovate swimming pools at US embassies and mission residences in war-torn countries such as Haiti, Sudan and Iraq.

“The Biden State Department threw a summer pool party that was blown away at your dime,” R-Iowa’s Ernst said in a statement provided to Fox News Digital.

“Bureaucrats may think wasting millions is a bucket reduction, but I am tired of taxpayers being thrown at the deep edge by Washington,” Ernst added. “I will work with the Trump administration to stop the flashy Biden spending.”

Ernst’s office has found that the State Department under the Biden administration has approved a total of more than $1.2 million, according to the New York Post, which first reported on the renovation of the pool on Thursday, with two pools in Haiti, five in Iraq, three in Sudan, one in Russia and one in Ghana.

Taxpayers spent $41,259 rehabilitating the pool of the US embassy in Moscow in a contract three months after Russia invaded Ukraine in a war that continued to infuriate. The purchase order was dated June 3, 2022 and August 15, 2022.

In Sudan, taxpayers spent $24,000 in 2021 on installing pool decks. Sudan is particularly under the State Department and does not provide consultation “due to armed conflict, civil unrest, crime, terrorism, and temptations.”

Some of the contracts detailed in the report have not been paid in full, including a $173,000 award for working in an Indonesian swimming pool at an embassy in Jakarta.

The federal government has been criticised previously for the amount of taxpayer funds spent on US embassies overseas, including spending large sums on artwork under the Obama administration, Fox Digital said at the time.

The US Embassy is funded primarily through Congressional Budgets to the US Department of State.

Ernst’s report follows months of reports that the federal government has saved billions of dollars amid ongoing investigations of various federal agencies seeking corruption, overexpenditures and mismanagement.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio is at the forefront of thwarting departments and programs under the provincial sphere. This closed USAID because it didn’t guarantee that the program would actually support American interests.

“This era of government-sanctioned inefficiency has officially ended. Under the Trump administration, we will ultimately carry out our foreign funding mission, prioritizing our national interests. As of July 1, USAID will no longer officially implement foreign aid. We will close USAID.
