A longtime gang leader accused of using charities as a front line to run criminal businesses in South Los Angeles could be linked to brutal murder, authorities said.
Federal prosecutors said there is a possible cause to believe Eugene “Big Woo” Henry Jr. killed a man named Rayshaun Williams in Las Vegas and dragged him in the desert.
According to court documents, Williams was an artist on Henry’s label, UNEEK Music. After Williams wrote the song for “This” Henry, the gang leader retaliated and murdered Williams, prosecutors said.
Before Williams became a rapper, he was a wide receiver for the Crenshaw High School football team. The day after he was killed, the soccer program announced his death on Instagram.
Not only did Williams play for Crenshaw, he was also a teammate with Big U’s son Diane Henry. In 2023, the LA Times wrote a story about Diamond.
NBC Los Angeles tried to reach out to Diane Henry for comment but did not respond.
Eugene Henry Jr. will remain federal custody at least at the end of the month until at least his detention hearing.
If convicted, he could receive a life sentence.
