Eric Dane is facing a new health battle.
The “Grey Anatomy” graduate shared that he was diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease.
This condition is a rare degenerative disease that affects neurons in the brain and spine, causing progressive paralysis of the muscles, causing patients to slowly lose the ability to speak, eat, walk and breathe.
“I was diagnosed with ALS,” Dane told people in an interview published on April 10th.
However, the 52-year-old, who shares his children, Billy Beatrice, 15, and 13-year-old Georgia Geraldine, 13, with his wife, Rebecca Gayhart, claimed that the diagnosis would not interfere with future projects.

“I can continue working and look forward to returning to the set of ‘Euphoria’ next week,” Dane continued. “During this time, you should give my family and me privacy.”
And Gay Heart reflects her husband’s feelings about supporting his family. In fact, a month after she filed her 2018 divorce petition to reject Dane after her 14 years of marriage, the “Beverly Hills, 90210” alum shared that their relationship is in a great place now.
Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, commonly known as Lou Gehrig’s disease, is a neurological disease that affects neurons in the brain and spinal cord.
“We’re the best friends. We’re really close. We’re amazing colleagues,” Gayhart told E! News April 9th.
How does the 53-year-old feel about their long-standing separation now that they have reconciled? Gayheart doesn’t consider it to be a complete negative.
“It’s just a season,” she explained. “It wasn’t a failure. It was a huge success. We were married. So we’re still married – but I think it’s a successful relationship because we had two beautiful children together for 15 years.
