LOS ANGELES (KTLA) – A fast-moving wildfire has broken out in the Hollywood Hills, prompting mandatory evacuation orders for large areas of the historic Hollywood entertainment district.
Los Angeles Fire Department personnel responded to a report of a fire at 2350 Solar Drive, near Astral Drive, just after 5:30 p.m.
Fire officials estimated the wildfire had charred at least 20 acres in the Runyon Canyon area as of 6:30 p.m.

“A mandatory evacuation order is currently in effect from Laurel Canyon Boulevard (west) to Mulholland Drive (north) and from the 101 Freeway (east) to Hollywood Boulevard (south),” LAFD said.
The LA Emergency Alert System advised residents near the fire to prepare for possible evacuation orders.

Firefighters are already working on several other ongoing fires, including the nearly 16,000-acre Palisades Fire, which has destroyed an estimated 1,000 structures, and the 10,600-acre Eaton Fire in Altadena and Pasadena, which has so far claimed many lives. Fighting wildfires takes an incredible amount of energy. Out of 5 people.
While battling the Palisades Fire, crews suffered from low water pressure and, in some cases, no water from fire hydrants that had become “depleted” due to high demand on the city’s water infrastructure. It is unclear whether firefighters are still addressing the issue.
