The Hughes Fire exploded to more than 5,000 acres in a matter of hours Wednesday, posing a further threat to Southern California residents still reeling from the damage caused by the Palisades and Eaton fires.
First responders from the Angeles National Forest and the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Office immediately issued evacuation orders and warnings of evacuation zones.

Red zones on the map are under evacuation advisory, meaning there is an immediate threat to life in the area. People in those areas must leave immediately and no one except first responders can enter.
Evacuation advisories have been issued for yellow zones on the map. There is a potential threat to life and property. People in those areas do not need to evacuate immediately, but anyone who needs extra time under an evacuation order or has pets or livestock should take this as a sign to evacuate immediately.
