An evacuation warning that was issued Thursday after a wildfire that grew to more than 200 acres in Riverside County has been lifted.
The Canyon Crest Fire was first reported in the area of Canyon Crest Drive and Weeping Willow Lane around 5:30 p.m., according to the San Bernardino County Fire Department. The fire was burning south of Highway 60 near Canyon Crest Drive in Riverside and San Bernardino counties.
Within hours, the fire had grown at a moderate rate to more than 80 acres. By Friday morning, the estimated size was 250 acres, and by the afternoon, containment was 15 percent.

Just before 7:50 p.m., an evacuation order was issued for the fire scene and parts of adjacent Riverside County, and the Riverside County Fire Department assumed control of the incident. Evacuation warnings were issued for areas north of the Moreno Valley (60) Freeway, east of Country Village Road, south of the county line and west of Sierra Avenue.
The evacuation advisory was lifted Friday afternoon.
“Additional fire engines, crews, a bulldozer and a night-flying water cannon helicopter helped bring the fire under control yesterday. Resources worked through the night to extinguish the fire in difficult terrain with flashy fuel and winds blowing from the east,” the fire department said. Announced. Friday.

The blaze, fanned by strong winds, spread across the Jurupa Valley. No injuries were reported.
