Everything you need to know about street closures at the 2024 West Hollywood Carnival

Dodgers fans aren’t the only ones who have reason to celebrate in the streets right now. That’s right, West Hollywood’s Halloween Carnival is coming.

Every Halloween night, WeHo welcomes countless costumed attendees to a mile-long street party on Santa Monica Boulevard filled with food trucks, performance stages, and an absolutely electrifying atmosphere. After a three-year hiatus, All Saints Eve made its triumphant return in 2023. And, of course, it will happen again in 2024.

The annual Carnival also means that many roads are closed. Here’s a quick rundown of everything you need to know about this year’s West Hollywood Halloween Carnival.

When is the West Hollywood Halloween Carnival?

The event will take place on Halloween night (Thursday, October 31, 2024) from 6pm to 11pm, with plenty of after-parties expected along the route.

Where is it held?

Along Santa Monica Boulevard, literally from Doheny Drive to La Cienega Boulevard.

What kind of road closures will be in place?

Additionally, West Hollywood Park, including the dog park, basketball courts, and parking lots, will be closed during this time.

What about parking and transportation?

WeHo’s regular resident permit parking restrictions will be temporarily lifted from 11 a.m. Thursday to noon Friday, allowing street parking to technically be allowed.

However, if you don’t want to worry about driving around the city to find a spot, there are several transportation options available. Pickup trolleys and CityLine shuttles (both ride free) run from King’s Road to La Brea Avenue (connecting at the Hollywood/Highland subway station further east) from 5:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. . PickUp then continues to work until 3am without metro connectivity. This year also introduces the Halloween-themed Afterlife Transfer Trolley, which will run up and down the Sunset Strip (which is just as scary as Fairfax) from 6pm until midnight.

West Hollywood is also served by numerous Metro bus lines, including the 4, 10, 30/330, 105, 212/312, 217, and 218.

Do I need a ticket? What’s really going on there? Also, are there any special rules?

No, participation is completely free. This isn’t really an overly programmed event. People just hang out, dance to DJ sets, and show off their costumes (just to be clear, unlike WeHo Pride, there’s no parade). However, due to tight security at the event, backpacks, camera cases, and tote bags (other than clear plastic bags) are prohibited. Drinking alcohol on the street is prohibited, as are weapons, fireworks and drones.
