Former staff member Barack Obama shredded a campaign video by Andrew Cuomo, the hopeful New York mayor who lost the Democratic primary to socialist Zoran Mamdani last month.

“This is one of the most unconvincing campaign videos I’ve ever seen,” former Obama White House assistant communications director and advisor Dan Pfeiffer wrote to X:

“The man who is visibly annoyed is just wearing an inappropriate shirt that says things he doesn’t clearly believe,” Pfeiffer said.

Cuomo released a campaign video on Monday officially releasing his independent mayoral bid.

“To Win It”: Cuomo refuses to return to a fierce New York mayoral race with Zoran Mamdani

A spokesman for the Cuomo campaign, which Fox News Digital has reached, said the video had received over 12 million views within a day of its release online.

“If the island pods don’t like something, it must mean we’re on the right track,” the spokesman added, a spokesman for Pfeiffer, who co-hosted a major progressive podcast entitled “Pod Save America.”

The failure of Mamdani to return these positions could trigger a calculation in the Democrats: “Five Alarm Warnings”

Cuomo’s video begins when he stands in a New York City park and says, “Unless you live under the rocks, you probably know that the Democratic primary didn’t go the way I wanted it to.”

“I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the 400,040 New Yorkers who voted for me. Thank you for trusting me, my agenda and my experience,” the former third term governor became a mayoral candidate. “I’m so sorry for letting you down. But my grandfather said, “When you get knocked down, you can learn lessons, pick yourself up and enter the game. That’s what I’m trying to do.”

Cuomo conveyed the message and performed footage of him waving people on the streets and on the subway systems.

“The fight to save our city is not over. Only 13% of New Yorkers voted in the June primary,” Cuomo said. “The general election is November and I’m there to win it. My opponent, Mr Mamdani, offers a smooth slogan, but there’s no real solution. We need a city that has safer roads, rented again, where buying your first home won’t make you bankrupt again. That’s what we know. It’s still possible.”

“You haven’t given up on it. And you deserve the mayor with the experience and ideas to make it happen again, and the courage to take on someone who gets in the way,” Cuomo added. “Every day I will go out on the street and meet you to hear about the good and bad, the problems and solutions, because it is my responsibility to win your votes for the next few months.

Three weeks ago, Mamdani’s major victory over Cuomo and nine other candidates shook the Democrats, turning the 33-year-old state legislator from Queens into the first Muslim mayor of the country’s most populous city. Mamdani surged to major victories thanks to an energetic campaign focused on affordable prices and high cost of living in New York City.

Mamdani has made smart use of social media platforms, including Tiktok. He proposed eliminating fares for taking New York City’s vast bus system, creating rent to freeze Cuny (City University in New York) into “tuition-free” city homes, providing “free childcare” for children up to five years old, and establishing a government-run grocery store.

Thanks to the efforts of the large grassroots military of volunteers, he was the young voter and a wave of support from progressive voters, and placed first on top runner Cuomo.

In deep blue New York City, the main Democratic winners are much preferred to win the general election. If Mamdani wins in November, he will become New York City’s first Muslim and millennial mayor. Mamdani grew up in Uganda and then grew up in Cape Town, South Africa, and moved to New York City at the age of seven where she attended the science school at Bronx High School.

Mamdani’s father is a Columbia University professor who sits on an advisory board of anti-Israel organizations supporting Israeli boycotts and sanctions, and has routinely accused the Israeli government of committing “genocide” and expressed sympathy for suicide bombers. His mother is a well-known Indian filmmaker.

Mamdani specifically declined in an interview in June to condemn the phrase “globalize intifadas.” As a result of October 7, 2023, the attacks by Israeli Hamasterolists sparked serious concerns from Jewish New Yorkers facing an increase in anti-Semitism.

Also on the general election vote is Democratic mayor Eric Adams. Eric Adams dropped his major bid earlier this year amid a sinking poll count in the wake of many controversy. Adams runs as independent.

Other candidates for the general election include Jim Walden, an independent federal prosecutor, and Curtis Swawa, co-founder of the Guardian Angels, the Republican mayoral candidate in their second consecutive election.

Paul Steinhauser, Andrew Mark Miller and Cameron Cowthorne of Fox News contributed to the report.
