Former Democratic Vice President candidate Tim Waltz has built a reputation for his off-cuff comments.
The Democratic Governor of Minnesota made no exception to being called “What’s Next: Conversations on the Path Forward” at the Center for American Progress (CAP) event on Friday morning.
The Waltz said China may be the voice of “moral authority” following Israel’s strike against Iran’s nuclear facilities and military leaders.
“Who is the voice of the world who can negotiate some type of agreement on this now? Who has moral authority? Who has the ability to do it?

The US once “attempted to become arbitrators of arbitrators” in negotiations during Iran’s nuclear deals, but said Americans must face the reality of “moral authority,” “moral authority,” and “may be Chinese” leading negotiations in the Middle East.

Waltz did not elaborate on why China is becoming its world leader.
The Minnesota Democrats also confirmed they wanted rain during President Donald Trump’s military parade.
“I didn’t really want the rain in my life,” Waltz said.
Trump will hold a massive flag day military parade on Saturday to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the US military. Hundreds of thousands of Americans are expected to gather in the country’s capital to witness the historic parade.

“This is not Pyongyang on Saturday,” Waltz said. He mentioned the capital of North Korea, a communist totalitarian dictatorship. Walz joined many Democrats, including plans to protest Saturday by drawing comparisons between China and North Korea’s military parades.
After Israel launched its air force with Iran’s nuclear facilities and military leaders, Trump’s military parade on Saturday responded by launching missiles at Israeli territory amid escalating conflicts in the Middle East.
Waltz was ridiculed earlier this year to celebrate Tesla’s stock decline as the protests were furious and rejected Elon Musk and the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).
“On the iPhone, they have that little stock app. I’ll add Tesla to it and give it a little boost during the day. $225 and a fall,” Walz said at the time.
On Friday, Waltz said talking to Musk and Tesla “worked” because he began to hurt the billionaire personally.

The Democrat, who took the national stage as a running companion to former vice president Kamala Harris during the brief 2024 presidential election, criticized Trump along his usual offensive line on Friday.
Waltz said Trump is “incompetent in governance” and that America is in a “dangerous time” under Trump’s leadership. He said at a Homeland Security press conference on Thursday that he would “mart towards authoritarianism” after an incident that was confusing when authorities forced the elimination of Senator Alex Padilla.
The former vice presidential candidate also said he managed to label Trump as “strange” during the 2024 presidential election.
“Instead of making him a very dangerous and terrifying authoritarian aspirant, I thought he was the strange guy doing this,” Waltz said.

“I’ve got a lot of fever” to incite violence, as I told Donald Trump he had to bully C., adding that he’s “getting a lot of fever.”
Earlier this year, the Minnesota governor said Harris chose him as a running mate. Because they say “I can talk to white people watching football and I can fix the truck,” and “with peace of mind,” explaining themselves as a “permission structure” for white men in rural America to vote for Democrats.
“I think I’ll give you something pretty good, but I’ll give you 10% problem too,” he added.
Waltz laughed at criticism over the contradictions in his background on the 2024 campaign trail, describing himself as a “knucklehead.”
