The dean of Spartan University, who was killed in a shooting on campus last week, was remembered by his family as a caring person who helped shape the future of his students through his work as a dedicated educator.
Dr. Kameisha Clark passed away Monday afternoon, according to a family member who issued a statement on Tuesday. Clark was one of two women photographed in her office on the Spartan Air Technology campus in Inglewood on Friday afternoon.
“We’re in ruins,” Clark’s family said. “Kameisha’s life was taken away from us too quickly by the meaningless act of violence that women must endure. She was a wonderful person who didn’t deserve this.
“Kameisha was the most caring, loving, fiercely loyal man. She was a brilliant, joyful, driveful and caring woman who was exposed to countless lives in her hometown, Atlanta, to Los Angeles, to LA.
“Her legacy is defined not by the way she died, but by the extraordinary ways she lived. She was a pioneer and inspiration, and was recently promoted to dean of the Spartan University of Aviation and Technology in Inglewood. University.
Clark was a beloved granddaughter, daughter, sister, friend and mentor, the family said.

“She brought warmth, laughter and grace into our lives every day,” the statement continued. “Her presence is a gift, and the blank space left is immeasurable.”
A 40-year-old Monterey Park security guard was charged with murder on Tuesday and attempted murder was attempted in a shooting. The suspect was also charged with a felon who possesses a firearm and possesses a firearm after a previous violent conviction.
He was in custody on a $1 million bond. Details of the motivation behind the shooting were not immediately available.
Clark’s family and friends attended court proceedings on Tuesday.
Inglewood Mayor James T. Butts told reporters that the man was recently hired as a security guard on campus.
The victim was the university’s dean and her receptionist or assistant, Butts said. The 35-year-old dean was admitted to the hospital in a dangerous condition and later died in the hospital. Dr. Kameisha Dennis Clark passed away Monday afternoon, her family said.
Chris Becker, president of the University of Spartan Inglewood Campus, issued a statement on Saturday.
“We are deeply saddened and angry at what happened,” Becker said. “Our idea is with two staff members and their families who are receiving medical care during this period. Counseling services and support will be arranged for students and staff over the next few days.”
