After the first week of searching, the family of Hannah Kobayashi has received just one new piece of information that will help them find the missing Maui woman in Los Angeles.
Family members said they learned of Kobayashi’s new final whereabouts over the weekend.
The 31-year-old’s family confirmed Monday that they had seen footage of Kobayashi recorded on Nov. 11 near the Pico subway station in downtown Los Angeles.
Her family said the footage, which has not been released to the public, showed Kobayashi with another person and that she was not in good condition.
“She’s not safe and she’s not alone,” said Kobayashi’s aunt, Larry Pidgeon, who came from Maui to look for her niece.
Kobayashi is described as 5 feet 10 inches tall, weighing about 140 pounds, with brown hair and eyes, and fair skin with freckles.
In addition to her fear for her missing niece, Pidgeon told KTLA’s Angeli Kakade that the search itself was terrifying.
“Someone tried to steal my husband’s cell phone from his hand,” Pidgeon said. “They were screaming and some were smoking crack.”
Kobayashi’s family last heard from her on November 10, when she missed her connecting flight at Los Angeles International Airport.
“I miss her,” Ryan Kobayashi said in an interview with KTLA, hoping to send a message to his daughter. “I just want her to know about it and reach out to her, whatever.”

According to Kobayashi’s family, Kobayashi was traveling from Maui to New York City to visit family, but missed his connecting flight in Los Angeles at 11 p.m. on Nov. 8, so he missed the LeBron James event. He decided to go to The Grove for this purpose.
A few days later, Pidgeon returned to LAX and said that’s when he started sending alarming text messages.
“She was scared and said someone might be trying to steal her money and identity,” her aunt said. “Weird, cryptic messages, things about the Matrix, things that weren’t like her at all. And all of a sudden, we couldn’t get in touch.”
Pidgeon and other family members traveled to Los Angeles to mail out fliers and search for the missing woman, and set up a GoFundMe to seek funding for hotels and search efforts.

The more Kobayashi goes missing, the more his family begs that his name not be made public.
“If they can print flyers, if we can help prepare them, then they can keep her name out there. The longer her name is out there, the more relevant she becomes. “It’s going to increase,” Pidgeon said.
Los Angeles police confirmed that Kobayashi’s missing person case was still active, but had not released any further details as of Monday.
Kobayashi’s family is asking anyone with information on his whereabouts to call Larry Pidgeon at 845-750-3006.
