The grieving family is suing Hollywood Hill Cemetery after learning that a gravestone honoring his late mother had been placed in the wrong burial district for four years.
DeMirchan’s family said they discovered the mistake during the funeral of his father Abetis DeMirchan, who was placed by his wife Hasmic DeMirchan’s wife in his lawn cemetery.
Their son, Chris DeMirchan, said that the financers would pull him aside during the service to let him know that Hasmic’s gravestones do not match her actual burial site. The memorial tablet was located in “Space 1” and hasmik was buried in “Space 2”.
“We are talking to the conspiracy of the sky and we feel betrayed,” Chris DeMirchan told KTLA’s Rachel Menithov. “We put the flowers down, prayed, came for holidays. We set up a decorated Christmas tree. It was the wrong space.”

The Cemetery fixed the error by moving the gravestone to the correct location. But the DeMirchan family has filed a lawsuit, claiming emotional distress from grieving in the wrong place for years.
“We are grateful that Forest Lawn took appropriate steps to fix the error right after it was discovered, but if the client had not suffered another loss, this was not yet allowed as it was not clear.”
The family is seeking a private amount of damages, but they said their main motivation is to prevent similar mistakes from occurring in other families.
“They’re sorry, but they think they’ll make up for the four years of mourning we’ve done. “This adds an extra layer of wounds and pain.”
KTLA reached Forest Lawn Cemetery for comment. The cemetery has 30 days to respond to the lawsuit.
