The chef and owner of a well-known food restaurant in Los Angeles is setting fire to the New York Times for a quote showing Elon Musk’s support.
Musk, the owner of Tesla, SpaceX and other companies, has partnered with President Donald Trump to increase “government efficiency” and reduce the country’s costs. However, his critics argue that the drastic cuts are spitting valuable federal agencies and are being made in a haphazard way.
Given his prominent role in Republican politics, Mask’s planned Tesla charging station, diners and drive-in theaters under construction on Santa Monica Boulevard in Hollywood naturally sparks scrutiny.
The New York Times on Friday detailed the shift in perception of mask’s “future diners,” which he previously described as “grease meets gems in a supercharger.” Musk also said the project will be completed in late 2023.

Musk’s conservative politics may thwart many potential business partners in liberal Los Angeles, but Walter Manzuke of Republique in Hancock Park has expressed excitement on behalf of him, his wife and business partner Margarita.
“The other day she said she wanted to buy a Tesla, so I can tell you what side she is on,” he told The Times.
The backlash prompted the restaurant to share a statement of clarification on Friday, but as of Monday, it appears that the Instagram post had been deleted.
“At Republique, we believe in focusing on what we do our best. We create an exceptional food and a welcoming experience for all our guests,” the statement said. “In response to a recent New York Times article, I would like to make it clear that the quote about the possibility of a Tesla may be about exploring electric vehicle options, not political statements. We value innovation and sustainability and respect all perspectives.
